Benefit planned June 23 for the late Lovie Smith Lovie Smith was diagnosed in September of 2011 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After a 6 month hospital stay and aggressive chemo treatments, she lost her tough battle on Feb. 28, 2012. To help the family cover the cost of medical bills, a benefit is planned. It will take place from 10 a.m.-midnight on Sat., June 23 at the St. Amant Recreational Center, 45404 Stringer Bridge Road.
